Fiberon recommends installing a highly UV-resistant rainscreen weather barrier with Wildwood composite cladding. Note that the air gap between the weather-resistive barrier and exterior cladding can be as narrow as 3/8 in. This will still enable drainage and drying. Consider using a dark-colored air barrier to conceal gapping.

Fiberon has worked to advance the appearance and performance of composite building materials without sacrificing our commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly manufacturing. We have led the way with innovative solutions that have become industry standards:
With its roots in decking applications, our composite cladding provides a level of durability, longevity and resistance to cracking, peeling and fading that other common cladding materials simply can’t match. Plus, Fiberon Wildwood composite cladding never needs staining, sealing, re-painting or refinishing, which significantly reduces long-term costs of ownership.
Fiberon offers a durable composite cladding that provides an elegant wood-like façade for a rainscreen application. Cladding is only one component within a rainscreen system.
Other elements include: weather-resistive barrier (rated for continuous UV exposure), furring material, and flashing at all penetration points and cladding transitions.
Note that the air gap between the weather-resistive barrier and exterior cladding can be as narrow as 3/8.” This will still enable drainage and drying.
Fiberon composite cladding is a smart choice for rainscreen applications because it is easy to source, install, and maintain; does not absorb water readily; and is available in a wide range of rich wood tones, each with multi-tonal streaking and authentic grain patterns.

It provides a long-lasting, sustainable alternative to traditional wood cladding and offers a solution for projects that require the beauty of wood with long-term warranted performance.
